Maybell Quantum
Hardware for the quantum world
Decisive Point is pleased to announce its investment Maybell Quantum Industries, Inc., the developer of dilution refrigeration hardware necessary for quantum computing. Maybell specializes in modular, cryogen-free low-temperature systems like 3He/4Hedilution refrigerators, 3He-cryostats, portable 4L-1K coolers, to accelerate innovation and meet the necessary cooling requirements of quantum technologies.
The quantum challenge
Quantum computers are expected to solve intractable problems in areas such as healthcare, finance, and artificial intelligence, leading to a $40B market for quantum hardware producers. With applications ranging from curing diseases, reversing the clock on climate change, creating millions of new jobs, the quantum revolution promises to revolutionize the way that people live and the world operates. However, current systems fail to address the needs of varied computer sizes, are subject to long lead-times, and are only available from overseas suppliers.
Maybell’s solution
Maybell is developing the hardware at the foundation of quantum computing, delivering the cooling capability required at scale to meet global demand trends with its secured US-based supply chain capable of delivering reliable and modular refrigeration systems to the US market as the industry’s only domestic manufacturer. Maybell aims to maximize market share by developing a range of systems designed to target academic, commercial, and industrial quantum computers.
With their DARPA-supported partnership with UCSB, Maybell is developing ultra-high-density wiring, which often accounts for a much as 40% of a dilution refrigerator’s purchase price. In addition, a partnership with a leading pulse-tube firm is allowing Maybell to deploy their systems with higher efficiency, a 4K system customized for use in their dilution refrigerators — an industry first.
The Maybell team
Maybell is led by a team of experienced engineers and entrepreneurs with backgrounds in finance, mechanical engineering, and management consulting for science and technology firms. The company’s founders started the Quantum Computing Program at Boston Consulting Group and its Chief Scientist leads Harvard Yacoby Lab for Quantum Physics.
Decisive Point is proud to support Maybell Quantum’s growth in the federal market as they build secure and resilient hardware to enable the quantum revolution.
